Children and families are suffering and need urgent help.
Good Neighbors has a team in Romania, near the borders, to assist refugees and people who are still in Ukraine, teamed up with local partners, the Romanian and Ukrainian governments, and UN agencies.
Volunteer to become a host family in Canada
By offering free temporary shelter to a refugee family or individual, you are making a lasting contribution to help people get back on their feet after leaving Ukraine.
If you are unable to be a host, you can choose to make a donation to assist with food, transportation, and other essentials.
Team in Ukraine
We have distributed 152,497 kg of emergency food kits in Ukraine so far, helping 15,749 households. In total, we estimate to support 50,500 people.
Medicine distribution continues to be delivered in Ukraine, as well as non-food items.
After reports of fake volunteers offering transportation via social media, providing buses to prevent human trafficking is one of the most important things we are doing in Romania.
Good Neighbors has two buses transporting about 70 people a day between the borders and Gara de Nord Central Station in Romania.
Caring for kids
Another way we are helping refugees is by offering shelter and psychological support.
Especially concerned about kids' well-being, we have created child-friendly spaces in shelters, where children are able to participate in group and individual activities.
Response plan - phase I
Our international office has provided an initial aid of $300,000. Together, all Good Neighbors' offices fundraised 107% of what was planned for phase I.
We are currently reviewing the current needs in the area and will share more information soon about our next steps.
Phases (II and III)
Assessment and special case management
Virtual classes and in-person school support
Daycare support and local coop activities
Rebuild and rehabilitate, once the conflict ends
Children are in danger
Conflict is not a new concept for children in Ukraine, a country that has experienced years of violence.
Still, having to leave their homes due to the recent Russian attacks is amplifying the emotional impact of war. They are scared and hungry.
Help us with immediate shelter, food, water, hygiene supplies, mattresses, blankets, other essential items, and psychological support.
Your gift today will provide life-saving support.
