Once you are matched with a child in the Dominican Republic, you will be able to track their progress through annual reports.

To learn more about how you will be responsible for giving a child a happier future, contact us. You can email Cecile Klerks at cklerks@gncanada.ca or call 1-833-614-4663(GOOD) - Ext. 703.

Why sponsor?

Through Good Neighbors Canada's 1:1 Child Sponsorship Program, you are matched with a child in need in the Dominican Republic.

This can shift the course of life of a young person's life. Your help will pave the way for children to thrive, offering nutrition, health care and education.

You may sponsor for as long as you would like. You may also choose to be matched with more than one child.

How being sponsored helped put Otegung on her path to medical school.

"I lost both my parents when I was really young. I remember staying up all night at the hospital when my dad fell sick. Ever since then, I have dreamed of becoming a doctor and helping others."

Meet Otegung

Being sponsored for 6 years changed Otegung's perspective on life.

It allowed her to have a safe home, quality education and medical care. She grew up in a healthy environment, with her sponsor's continuous support.

Thanks to the Good Neighbor's program, this year Otegung was accepted into the National University of Mongolia to study medicine.

"Life was really tough before I got sponsored", says Otegung. "The biggest benefit for me was the emotional support I got."

"I would not have been able to be here today without my sponsor and the support of Good Neighbors. It is my turn to help children in need now. I want to become a sponsor and make a difference in their lives."

Naran was sponsored for 8 years of his life by Jeong-won Min, who works as an obstetrician in Daejeon, South Korea. She now sponsors other children in Nepal.

Naran also studies to be a doctor

Sponsor Jung-won Min met Naran Kang Erden when he was 12 years old.

His parents had divorced when he was young. Staying with his mother was not easy, as she was battling an illness.

With growing concerns about living costs, Naran wouldn't have been able to stay in school, if it weren't for the support of Good Neighbors' child sponsorship program.

"I am so proud he got into medical school, after going through so much, and I believe Naran will help many people. It's very special to watch a child you are supporting grow. One of the most rewarding things in my life is definitely being a child sponsor."
