Helping Londoners

Through our Food Relief campaign in London, Ontario, we offered immediate support to people in need. Over $23,000 was equally divided between three organizations:

The value we fundraised helped Meals on Wheels deliver meals to seniors, Mission Services serve meals at their shelters, and the London Food Bank feed people through 25 agencies in Ontario.

In April 2020, we donated 400 masks to the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and, in May, we delivered three 20L pails of hand sanitizer and twelve units of paper towels (6-packs) to Meals on Wheels.

Support to more Canadians

In July 2020, we donated 10,000 masks to the Jane and Finch Community in Toronto, one of the areas where COVID-19 hit the hardest. They were purchased through a Good Neighbors fundraiser with Korean churches. Sea Mission and Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Tom Rakocevic helped facilitate the give away.

In June 2121, thanks to the incredible support of volunteers and 40 PointClickCare employees, we collected and distributed 4,752 hand sanitizers made by Maverick Distillery in Oakville, Ontario.

A total of 200 care homes in several cities in the province, from Owen Sound to Sarnia, received hand sanitizers.

Global assistance

Good Neighbors has been distributing masks and hygiene products, installing hand washing stations, and providing treatment and emergency response.

Many countries we work at have weak public health systems. Children and their families in vulnerable communities are facing severe risks since they lack clean water and cannot access basic health services.

We are responding to the crisis in cooperation with local health authorities, governments, the United Nations and international humanitarian societies.

So far, Good Neighbors reached over 4.4 million people in our COVID-19 relief initiatives, including more than 1.8 million children in our field countries.

Heroes from Home

In light of COVID-19, we have had to cancel our Minds in Bloom fundraiser.

We are helping renovate two classrooms at La Palangana Primary School in Guatemala, in the second edition of our Save a School campaign.

While there have been no Covid cases among students and staff, the community is suffering. We have supported Good Neighbors Guatemala's initiative Heroes from Home, a series of benefit concerts for food supplies, water and masks and they have helped over 2,500 families.

Actions from our HQ in South Korea

Good Neighbors has distributed 325,681 masks, 17,823 hand sanitizers and 24,572 prevention kits in South Korea since the beggining of the pandemic. Medical staff were also supported with 12,000 pieces of protective clothing.

5,969 kits with emergency daily necessities were distributed to vulnerable people so far. The focus is on local children's centers and child welfare centres, as well as low-income families.

For emotional support, Good Neighbors also offers phone counselling for children and is distributing a kit to help with mental health. It includes a mandala colouring book, clay and board games to help with stress management.

Take good care of one another and keep being such good neighbours.
