WISHING WELL PROJECT

We build wells in communities to provide clean water sources to our neighbors who do not have access to safe drinking water. Each well costs about $3,000 to carefully analyze the land, build and maintain. # of completed wells: 1

Our story of building wells in Zambia

Numerous communities in Zambia are suffering daily from contaminated water sources. For example, in the community of Chilikwela, people rely on contaminated water sources such as streams where frog and other amphibian animals breed from. These water sources are not treated as it is very difficult to treat running sources of water. As a result, people suffer from waterborne diseases such as dysentery, acute respiratory infection and chronic symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. Also, because these water sources are far away, children cannot attend school and have to fetch water for their families. Good Neighbors Canada builds hand pump wells in communities in Zambia in order provide them with convenient access to clean water which they can drink and use for everyday life.
